Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva decided not to cancel the state of emergency, reasoning the enforcement was to bring the Thai society back to normalcy.
This is in line with the business sector’s reaction. Brokerage firms warned investors to be cautious about investing on stocks.
Santi Vilassakdanont, president of the Federations of Thai Industries (FTI), urged the government to use fair practices to promote equality and peace in the country.
He admitted that political situation affected the business sector, especially the tourism sector.
As for Sondhi Limthongkul’s assassination, police said there were at least five culprits and the killing was well-planned.
Men in uniform were reportedly behind the assassination.
However, police downplayed news that men in uniform were involved in such plan.
Maj Gen Khattiya Swasdiphol, also known as Seh Daeng, earlier denied involving in the killing, saying he had no incentive to do that.
Police primarily believed the assassination was based on conflict of political or business interest.
