Somchai admits talking to Sondhi on phone

Bangkok - Prime minister Somchai Wongsawat revealed he talked to Sondhi Limthongkul, one of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leaders, on phone and got a good response.

Somchai said he was ready to discuss the political problem, adding that the problem discussion would take time.

This morning, he went to inspect the Don Muang Airport which would be used as a temporary place for the government.

The PAD has started its rally since May 25 and is now seizing the Government House to protest against the government.

The group vowed to act against any corrupt governments and politicians.

Gen Surayud Chulanont urged all relating parties to reconcile to mark the second anniversary of the military coup.

Asked if PM Somchai would be able to build unity in Thai society, Gen Surayud said he could not give any comments as he personally did not know the premier.

Sodsri Sattayatham, member of the Election Commission (EC), said Thai politics would be much affected if the Constitutional Court resolved that the People Power Party (PPP) should be disbanded.

The EC was also asked to examine the qualifications of more than 200 MPs and Senators holding stake in private companies.
