Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Social workers had to work hard because the number of social workers was not in line with those who needed help.

More than 600 vagrants and beggars lived crowdedly at a vagrant center in Patum Thani.

4,842 people needed help whereas only 178 officials were available. As a result, officials had to work harder since the vagrant/official ratio was 1:27.

There are 13 centers nationwide handling mentally-sick people at the moment, according to the department of social and welfare development.

Mentally-sick people attract little attention compared to children, the disabled as well as elders.

On March 15, 380,495 aged people registered to get allowances from the government. 500-baht allowance per month will be given to an elder.

The highest number of registering elders was in Bangkae, Din Daeng, Jomthong, Pasicharoen and Bangsue District respectively.

The lowest number was in Samphanthawong District.
