Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Getting former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra back to Thailand may not be that easy as Hong Kong has not shown its reaction to the issue yet.
The court earlier ruled against Thaksin and assign two-year imprisonment for him in the Ratchadapisek land case.
Thailand sent its team to coordinate to bring the convict back to go through the judicial process. However, whether Hong Kong would accept or reject the request is still not known.
The ex-premier Thaksin reportedly invested massively in the property and business sector there.
Some Puea Thai MPs previously met the convict in Hong Kong. They would be guilty only if they were found to support Thaksin to stay on the run.
Pongthep Thepkanchana, Thaksin’s private spokesman, confirmed his boss has never applied for the residential visa from Britain.
He also revealed that Thaksin has already accepted an invitation to give his speech at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Hong Kong on March 12.
