Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The government decided to pay little attention to former prime minister Thaksin’s phone-in since it has had other issues to deal with.

Deputy PM Suthep Thaugsuban told reporters that the government did not give importance to Thaksin’s phone-ins to villages and would go ahead solving the country’s problems instead.

After the 14th ASEAN Summit, the government still has drug, southern unrest, economic and social problem to cope with.

Sathit Wongnongtei, PM’s Office Minister, admitted that Thaksin is a political influence.

A Puea Thai MP earlier told reporters that the United Kingdom re-issued the visa for Thaksin although the news was not confirmed either by the British or Thai government.

Ex-premier Thaksin cancelled his speech at the Foreign Correspondents Club in Hong Kong after Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva had announced to contact the Chinese government to bring him back to face legal actions.

Pongthep Thepkanchana, Thaksin’s private spokesman, revealed Thaksin was not in Hong Kong at the moment, saying he did not know his boss’s whereabouts due to no contact with the then-premier.

Puea Thai Party will call a meeting this afternoon to select its PM candidate as the party plans to hold a censure debate against the government.
