Bangkok (Manager Online) - MR Sukhumbhand Boripat, Democrat Party’s candidate for Bangkok Governor post said the construction of the BTS skytrain in Thonburi side would be completed soon if he were elected as Bangkok’s new governor.
Yesterday morning, Sukhumbhand and his team campaigned for votes in Jomthong, Bangkokyai and Klongsan areas.
After visiting King Taksin Monument, he said a tunnel to the monument would be built and there would be no flyover if he became the next governor.
Sukhumbhand confirmed the 2.2-kilometre Taksin-Wongwianyai
extension would be completed next mid-year.
He added that the service would surely be available on May 15, 2009 before the school opening.
Sukhumbhand revealed that the construction of other extended lines such as Wongwianyai-Bangwa and Onnuj-Bering would be finished in two years.
The Democrat Party’s candidate has to compete with other candidates like Yuranan Phamornmontri from Puathai Party, ML Natthakorn Devakula and Kaewsan Atipo.
New governor was sought after former Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin was found guilty in the fire boat and truck case.
