Bangkok (Manager Online) - Academics suggested the new government should include new-generation and professional experts to its economic team to solve the country’s problem.

Pipob Udon, Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy’s lecturer at Thammasat University, said the government needed to add outsiders who are economic experts to its team since existing personnel might not be able to handle the problem.

Confidence had to be boosted because the country’s major sources of income such as tourism and export were much affected.

Viput Ongsakul, NIDA’s lecturer, said the public utility construction projects would lead to income building in the long run and this was better than the short-term measures.

He believed reducing the value-added tax (VAT) from 7 to 3 percent for one year would help boost consumers’ purchasing power.

Puathai Party MPs and some academics reportedly thought the Democrat-led government would not last more than six months.

Economic problem seems to be the first priority for this government. Nevertheless, social division problem also needs to be urgently solved as well.
