Bangkok - The new government based on old political power will not last long and be forced to dissolve parliament when it is time to, according to the Rajabhat Ubon Ratchathani University’s lecturer Jitrakorn Bhongam.
Assistant Professor Jitrakorn viewed that the new government coming from old power bases would not solve the political problem since these power bases would focus on maintaining their power.
As a result, the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) would come back to stage its protest again.
Jitrakorn believed the new government would have difficulty in administrating the country and later find the proper time to dissolve parliament.
Newin’s Friends group would reportedly play an important role in determining who the new prime minister would be.
Chuvit Pitakpornpallop from the Newin’s Friends group said that the new premier should be accepted by the society. He added that Sanoh Thienthong and Gen Chettha Thanacharo were suitable for the post.
Boonjong Vongtrairat from such group also confirmed all MPs in the group would move to the Puathai Party. He agreed the new prime minister should not cause social division.
Suthep Thuagsuban, secretary general of the Democrat Party, admitted some MPs from disbanded parties contacted him, but they have not decided to join the Democrat Party yet.
Suthep said he has not discussed the political issue with Chart Thai Party’s advisory chairman Maj Gen Sanan Kachornprasat and Pracharaj Party’s leader Sanoh Thienthong yet.
