Bangkok - Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra traveled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but had no plan to live there.

The Thai consulate in Dubai revealed the then-premier had no plan to permanently live in the UAE though he went there, according to foreign agencies.

Thaksin might travel to other undisclosed countries.

“We heard that Thaksin came to Dubai and would travel on. However, we cannot confirm if he is in Thailand or not,” said Pasant Theprak, Thai consul in Dubai.

The People Alliance for Democracy (PAD) is protesting against Somchai government, urging the government to bring the ex-premier back to prove his innocence in court.

Somchai is running his administration at the Don Muang Airport.

It was previously reported Thaksin would make a new phone-in to his supporters at the Supachalasai Stadium on December 13.

“We will not deny giving help to him if he contacts us. But we can’t force him to come to us. He is a Thai citizen. Thus, he can travel to any places,” Pasant added.
