Bangkok - The legal team of the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra prepared legal documents and was ready to appeal against the Ratchadapisek land case.
Thaksin’s lawyer Kamnuan Chalopatham revealed he did not know when the ex-premier would appeal to the court against the land case.
The Supreme Court earlier gave its verdict that Thaksin was guilty because he used his power to benefit his wife Pojaman’s land purchase.
Thaksin got two-year imprisonment.
Kamnuan said it was the then-premier’s right to come back to fight in court. However, he did not know about Thaksin’s decision.
The legal team has to appeal to the court against the case within thirty days, and the deadline is due on November 19.
Chuan Leekpai, Democrat Party’s advisory council’s chairman, said Thaksin should respect the law and come back to prove his innocence.
Chuan also said that the judicial process was reliable and the ex-premier should know if his action was against the law or not.
