Bangkok - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) collected krathongs after the Loy Krathong Festival, and krathongs made of natural material were the highest number.
759,919 natural krathongs were collected after the festival, accounting for 81.77 percent of all floated krathongs.
117,997 or 12.7 percent were foam krathongs.
Thai people normally celebrate the Loy Krathong Festival by floating krathongs in the river to ask for forgiveness for polluting the water and good luck from the goddess of the water.
51,910 krathongs were gathered from Klongtoei District, which was the highest number while 550 krathongs from Rajathevi District, which was the lowest number.
The total number of collected krathongs was 929,329, 15.16 percent down from last year.
The government campaigned for one krathong for one family this year.
Decreasing number of krathongs might be because the Loy Krathong Festival did not fall on holiday this year.
161,819 krathongs were collected from the Chao Phraya River.
