Bangkok - Fireworks will not be allowed on boats and piers to ensure people’s safety during the Loy Krathong Festival, according to the Water Transport and Merchant Marine Department.
Such ban is to prevent participating people from any harm which may occur during the festival.
It is expected heavy navigation which can cause accidents will be in Chao Phraya River and several canals.
Loy Krathong Festival is usually in November. It falls on November 12 this year.
Boat operators were asked for their cooperation to check their boats, machines and rescue equipment to ensure passengers’ safety.
They were also urged to clearly affix a sign to limit the number of passengers.
Officials were sent to check piers to see if they were ready to serve passengers.
Loy Krathong Festival will be celebrated at Rama VIII Bridge and Suan Santi Prakanchai in Bangkok, according to Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin.
