Bangkok - Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat yesterday warned Thai people of bomb risk during the Loy Krathong Festival on November 12.
He urged the public to avoid a big crowd of people.
Three small bomb blasts have taken place at the Government House where the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) demonstrators occupy.
"I am really concerned about tomorrow night as people celebrate Loy Krathong. If possible, please avoid places where a large number of people are gathered," Somchai said.
A bomb blast injured a few protesters yesterday morning.
Thais celebrate the festival every year, floating their krathongs in which they also put a candle and joss sticks to ask for forgiveness for polluting the water and good luck from the goddess of the water.
PM Somchai refused to give a comment on the ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s phone-in. Thaksin plans to make more phone-ins, vowing to fight his political opponents.
