Bangkok - Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej denied being in conflict with the army, saying the emergency decree might be lifted as nobody complied with it.

The emergency decree might be lifted in one or two days.

Samak announced the state of emergency in Bangkok on September 2 after members of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) clashed with the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship (DAAD) members.

One man was dead and 43 were injured after the clash.

The emergency decree banned a political gathering of more than five people. Ignoring the decree, the PAD protesters have rallied on.

"There is no need for the state of emergency because no one has complied with it. Since people are not complying with it, I will consider revoking it," Samak told reporters.

He said he would consult concerned officials about ending the decree in one or two days since it is ineffective.
