Bangkok - NIDA proposed Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej should either dissolve the parliament or resign to end the political crisis, saying the emergency decree could not solve the problem.
NIDA’s rector Sombat Thamrongthanyawong called the executives meeting and issued a statement to extend their regret on the clash between the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship and People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) group.
NIDA proposed three suggestions: all parties should rely on peaceful fight, this political crisis could not be solved by legal measures, the announcement of emergency decree reflected the government passed on its responsibility for conflict solving and used soldiers as its tool to end conflict.
NIDA thought that the law enforcement could build conditions leading to more violence.
The army chief was urged to carefully consider the issue and avoid being exploited by politicians.
Sombat added that the emergency decree would be ineffective as it was not when being used worldwide.
The government was said to use the army to further stay in power.
“Today, Thailand is taken as a hostage by the government and the PAD. This will damage the country and the democratic process,” he said.
He also said that the Election Commission’s resolution to disband the People Power Party showed that the government had no right to further administrate the country.
