Bangkok - The cabinet approved in principle a referendum holding to solve the political crisis threatening the government stability.
Prime Minister talked about the current situation on the Radio Thailand station, calling an urgent meeting this morning at the Royal Thai Army headquarters.
Agriculture Minister Somsak Prissananantakul said his party proposed the referendum should be held to see if Thai people wanted the government to continue doing its duty or not.
Somsak said the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) might disagree with the idea, but they should listen to the majority opinion.
He believed the referendum holding would be worth investing the budget as the country lost its revenue due to the political conflict.
Deputy Agriculture Minister Theerachai Saenkaew confirmed Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej was entitled to do his duty.
It was reported the next week’s cabinet meeting would be held in provinces if the Government House was not available.
