Bangkok - 56.38% of the respondents believed the arrest of Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang, one of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leaders, would lead to political turmoil, according to a poll.
Suan Dusit Poll surveyed 1,456 respondents.
62.46% of the respondents thought it was legal for the police to arrest Chamlong while 30.57% disagreed to the arrest.
21.88% thought there would be no turmoil.
23.36% wanted the government to hold talks with the PAD to resolve the conflict while 38.36% thought there should be no intervention in the government’s administration.
37.09% wanted the PAD demonstrators to end the rally while 69.89% wanted the police to do their duty according to the law.
The Criminal Court will give its verdict on whether to free Chamlong or not at 2:00 pm today.
