Bangkok - Academics recommended the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) should pilot the use of electric motorcycles to deal with the global warming.

The idea of using the electric motorcycles to reduce the global warming was proposed by academics from Assumption University and Chulalongkorn University.

The BMA was asked to provide the parking and battery charging spots to give convenience to electric motorcyclists.

It was proposed the project should be piloted with the motorcycle-taxis in Bangkok.

Electric motorcycles would help reduce the noise and air pollution as well.

An electric motorcycle normally costs about 50,000-60,000 baht.

It will be able to run twenty kilometers if full batteries.

About five to six scooters would also be used by the city police to patrol areas such as Wat Po and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Kaew soon.
