Bangkok - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to provide the pilot bicycle lanes in the inner areas of Bangkok to cope with traffic problem.
The BMA met with the government and private sector last month to find measures to solve the traffic problem.
The three-kilometre bicycle lanes on Sathorn, Silom, Rama IV and Narathiwat Rajanakarin Road are linked together.
The parking lot can serve up to 290 bicycles.
BMA may issue a law to serve the use of bicycles if there are many riders.
Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayothin revealed the free bicycles to visit Ratanakosin Island scheme would also be launched in August to reduce the pollution and global warming.
Free bicycles are part of the measures to boost tourism in Bangkok.
300 bicycles will be available for both Thais and foreigners at 8 points: Pinklao Bridge, Suan Santi Chaiprakarn, Wat Bowornnivetviharn, Saun Saranrom, Tha Tian, Larn Khonmuang, Wat Phrakaew and National Museum.
