Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The Internal Trade Department has joined gold shops in Yaowaraj area to offer goldsmith’s charge discount for gold buyers at participating gold shops.
Commerce Minister Mrs. Pornthiva Nakasai this morning presided over the launching ceremony of the Blue Flag gold shop scheme.
At least 100-baht discount on the goldsmith’s charge will be given to gold buyers at the Blue Flag gold shops.
The project is to help support the gold shop business and help goldsmiths stay in their work during the economic crisis.
Up to 307 gold shops have participated in the Blue Flag gold shop scheme so far.
The gold prices earlier declined due to concerns over the use of another currency for Russia’s foreign reserves.
Investors currently turn to trade gold more because of decreasing gold prices. However, the retail gold price is likely to make a new high at 17,000 baht.
It is believed that gold prices should not be lower than 13,000 baht.
