Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Thai boxing exercise is good for people’s lung and heart, according to a survey.
Following HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s self-sufficiency economic philosophy, public health ministry brought the local wisdom of Thai boxing to be part of exercise.
The so-called Thai boxing exercise focuses on the use of fist, foot, knee and elbow.
It was first piloted in Ratchaburi province.
The alternative exercise was tested with the sample group consisting of children, teenagers and elders.
The subjects did the exercise three times a week, 30-40 minutes per day and for twelve weeks.
They were physically and mentally better. Besides, people who participated in the exercise were more proud of Thainess.
Thai boxing exercise is good for people of all ages and genders. It helps improve the blood circulation and respiratory system.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s 2008 report, obesity caused chronical diseases such as diabetes (58%), heart disease (21%) and some cancers 8-42%.
