Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Fugitive and former premier Thaksin Shinawatra called for justice and democracy to put an end to social division happening in the Thai society.
Thaksin begged HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej to step in to stop the social clashes, according to the Financial Times.
Quoting equality, liberty and fraternity, the ousted premier described what Thai people needed in the future.
"I am encouraging them to ask for justice and democracy," he said. "Equality, liberty and fraternity: that is what we need in Thailand."
The Abhisit government revoked Thaksin’s passport after the anti-government group aborted the ASEAN summits in Pattaya.
Many parties urged Thaksin to stop his political role so as to allow peace to take place in the society again.
Thaksin who insisted he has already washed his hand of Thai politics was believed to be the root cause of the political turmoil.
