Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Bangkok has turned red since yesterday as the red shirts blocked the Victory Monument in a bid to bring down the government.
Sonthi Limthongkul, leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), revealed that some Metropolitan police helped the red shirts plan such blockade.
He said the red shirts wanted to throw a bomb at ASTV last night to provoke violence. Due to austere security, they had to toss such threatening bomb at PTT petrol station, 100 metres away from ASTV.
Deputy PM Suthep Thaugsuban was urged to take responsibility for the political turmoil sparked by the red lovers.
Sondhi also said that lighters were given away to burn the city. Unfortunately, such goal was aborted since it’s raining.
Circular letters were yesterday sent to commercial banks and department stores to update them about the current situation.
Rumor has it that the red shirts’ rally became tougher since fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra failed to fulfill his three demands: get his 76-billion-baht confiscated assets back, dissolve parliament, and be free from all legal accusations.
Nevertheless, army chief Gen Anupong Paochinda’s confidant this morning argued that no such demands from Thaksin were negotiated.
He insisted that that was impossible because Thaksin was just a fugitive.
