Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Most of Thai people who received the government’s 2,000-baht cheques planned to spend them on daily life necessities.
Assumption University surveyed 1,192 respondents in eighteen provinces on March 26.
Respondents were quite satisfied with the gift cheque management.
82.8 percent said they would immediately spend their gift cheques whereas 17.2 percent would keep them for future use.
As for people who planned immediate spending, 70.6 percent would use the cheques to buy food while 52.5 percent to buy other necessary things.
10.3 percent would use their cheques to repay their debts.
Although most people tended to spend their cheques right away, this group of people seemed to keep one-fourth of their money as savings.
The government was urged to facilitate the procedures of gift cheque receiving and offer this kind of cheque in the next sixth months.
The atmosphere of gift check receiving is still busy on the second day since most people have come early in the morning to form a queue.
