Bangkok - The atmosphere of the Vegetarian Festival has become busy throughout Thailand, and Thai people tend to buy the ready-to-eat food rather than do the cooking themselves.
In Songkhla, people worshipped the sacred gods which are the symbol of the Vegetarian Festival.
In Chiang Rai, Thai-Chinese people came to pay holmage to the Chinese gods at a foundation and prayed to purify their mind.
Lot of people tend to buy the ready-to-eat vegetarian food rather than do the cooking themselves. The food ingredients prices are expensive.
In Phitsanulok, the atmosphere was also busy. The Thai-Chinese people dressed in white to join the festival.
Many joss houses have offered free vegetarian food three meals a day during September 28 to October 7 to promote the festival.
In Narathiwat, lot of people queued up to buy vegetarian food at food shops since the number of shops was not so many.
The prices of vegetarian food hiked about 5-10 baht per bag this year. The amount of food was also reduced.
However, people accepted the rising prices because of soaring food ingredients prices and cost of living.
Many people went to Than Nam Jai Foundation’s almshouse as there were various vegetarian dishes and the food was free of charge.
