Bangkok - The People Power Party (PPP) paved way for Samak Sundaravej to return to power as prime minister though he just lost his premiership yesterday due to the Constitutional Court’s verdict.

The court ruled against Samak, saying his cooking show was against the law. The court terminated his premiership and the possibility of being a caretaker prime minister.

"The session could be held Friday. If that's not possible, it will be scheduled for Saturday or Monday, but it must be as soon as possible," deputy speaker Samart Kaoemeechai told AFP.

It was reported the parliament prepared to hold an emergency session to vote in a prime minister.

There are now two possibilities. The first choice is that Samak may be voted back while the second choice is that the PPP may propose one of its members to be a new premier.

PPP’s leaders already held a discussion with Chat Thai Party leader Banhan Silpa-archa. Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee planned to hold a press briefing in the afternoon concerning their discussion.

Democrat Party denied competing with the PPP by backing its leader Abhisit Vejjajiva to be the new prime minister.

The question is that whether Samak or PPP’s member supported as the new premier will be accepted by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and Thai society.
