Bangkok - Thai people expected they would have to spend more money during the Loy Krathong Festival because of more expensive product prices.
Most people still spend their salaries to buy things. Only people in Bangkok and surrounding provinces used their savings rather than salaries.
University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) surveyed 1,194 respondents nationwide during October 27-31.
72.3 percent planned to celebrate the festival while 27.7 percent would not because of danger and economic problem.
The average spending would be 1,149 baht per person, 7.4 percent increase from last year.
8.8 billion baht were expected to be spent during the festival.
56.6 percent thought the festival would still be enjoyable while 39.2 percent thought it would be more delightful.
47.8 percent expected they would spend more due to higher product prices.
