Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – People in the city of angels were confident of the government administration and Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in terms of economic problem solving.
Nevertheless, up to 47 percent of Thais were still worried about the economic slowdown whereas 30 percent concerned about political instability.
Thailand Marketing Research Society (TMRS) surveyed 500 respondents on March 5-13 when the Abhisit government took office for three months and the red shirts have not rallied yet.
Confidence in Thailand’s economy rose from 20 to 31 percent.
Up to 66 percent of people in Bangkok agreed to the 2,000-baht gift cheque measure while 17 percent disagreed.
Respondents expected the government would help raise the employment rate, minimum wage and reduce product prices.
67 percent said they delayed their product buying and turned to the self-sufficiency economy.
13 percent had to repay more debt compared to the past six months whereas 11 percent repaid less debt.
52.15 percent said they had to be more careful about their spending and planned to spend less during the Songkran Festival, according to the Dusit Poll.
