Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), private bus operators as well as BTS skytrain offer free rides for the elders who are 60 years up during Songkran Festival.
April 13 is the national elders and family day in Thailand.
Free services are to encourage Thai people to realize the value and importance of aged people in the Thai society.
Free bus rides will be offered on all BMTA routes on April 13.
BTS free rides will be available for the elders during April 13-15. Service hours star from 6:00 AM to 12 PM.
Free BTS services will also be given to children whose height is less than 140 centimeters. Children have to get on and off at the same stations as their parents.
Free ride coupons will be given at 23 BTS skytrain stations.
BTS skytrain riders can travel to places such as Wat Pathumvanaram near Siam station and Wat Yannawa near Taksin station.
Elevator service can be accessed at five stations: Mo Chit, Siam, Asoke, Onnuj and Chongnonsi.
