Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said that Thailand’s economy might not recover until the fourth quarter of this year.

Abhisit was in talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown during his official visit to the United Kingdom.

"I think we are now looking at a delay in recovery. The projections for the global economy have been lowered," Abhisit told journalists.

The premier emphasized measures to cope with the country’s economic problem and to solve the political conflict to foreign investors.

Abhisit revealed that Tesco Lotus gave an opportunity for Thailand to export fruit through its network.

EU would also relax its regulations of chicken exports from Thailand.

PM Abhisit said that foreign investors were keen on Thailand’s short-term, medium-term and long-term measures to boost tourism. He believed this would make the sector recover sooner.

Abhisit will meet with British finance minister this afternoon and will also visit Thai students there before leaving London for Bangkok.
