Bangkok - The International Mathematics Competition (IMC) 2008 takes place today in Chiang Mai. Students from about twenty five countries are expected to attend the event.
The IMC 2008 is hosted by Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC).
The event starts on October 25 and run until October 30.
About 400 primary, junior and high school students will join the competition.
They are from twenty five nations such as China, Cyprus, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Korea, South Africa, etc.
Sixty finalists from regional competitions will represent Thailand to join the IMC 2008.
Khunying Kasama Voravan Na Ayutthaya, OBEC secretary general, said Thai students would have a good experience and learn from this event.
“The competition will stimulate Thai students to learn about maths by exchanging knowledge with foreign students,” she said.
