Bangkok - Thai people in China’s Sichuan province are all safe from the magnitude earthquake, according to Foreign Ministry. Xinhua reported the death toll is over 9,000.
Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama revealed there are about 100 Thai students in Sichuan province.
He said they are all safe, adding that help would be given if they asked for. So far, none of them has asked for help.
Xinhua News Agency reported the death toll rose from about 8,500 yesterday to 9,219. The death toll in Sichuan province alone is 8,993. More than 60,000 people are missing.
Xinhua News Agency is the official press agency of the government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the biggest center for collecting information and press conferences in the PRC.
The magnitude earthquake in the 30-year round struck Sichuan province yesterday, measured 7.8 on the Richter Scale. It was reported more aftershocks might follow.
