Bangkok - China’s Xinhua News Agency reported the Supreme Commander Gen Boonsang Niempradit gave an interview the army would stand by the government’s side.

Gen Boonsang confirmed the army would follow the government’s order if it wanted the army to handle the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD).

He insisted the order would be taken solemnly.

However, Gen Boonsang said he has not discussed the issue with Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej yet.

The army would closely keep up with the protest situation further only.

The PAD has started its protest since May 25. The number of protesters was reported to rise more.

Xinhua reported the PAD still protests the government on, calling Samak who is the ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s nominee to resign from his post.

Thaksin is considered to have attitudes against the monarchy.
