Bangkok - Deputy Prime Minister Sanan Kachornprasart said the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD)’s rally did not affect the country’s tourism.
Gen Sanan who is in charge of the tourism and sports ministry said the PAD’s protest was done in peace and without violence.
He added the protesters exercised their rights according to the law. But the tourists might concern about their safety.
The PAD has taken place for more than a week so far. Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej vowed to crack down on the protesters on Saturday, raising concerns over the country’s image.
Gen Sanan was confident Thailand’s tourism would grow as targeted.
14.5 million foreign tourists and total revenue of 800,000 million baht are targeted.
However, Sanan called the PAD to end its protest, saying its demands were fulfilled as Chakrapob Penkair resigned and the amendment motion was withdrawn.
