Bangkok - 51 Senators yesterday held a press briefing to act against the charter change, believing the issue could lead to clashes.
14 selected and elected Senators represented the Senate committee on the constitution amendments to show their standpoint.
Mrs. Pornpan Boonyaratpan revealed 51 Senators met at the Royal Princess Hotel on May 27.
They agreed that the charter change was to benefit some politicians more than the country and Thai people.
An ad-hoc committee will be set up to explain the idea of exploiting the amendments by some politicians to the general public.
Strategies will also be determined to further protest against the amendments motion.
People are welcomed to join the protest against the charter change.
Senators exercised their rights according to Article 291.
“We do not say the 2007 constitution cannot be amended. The point is whether it is the right time to. Clashes will surely take place after the charter change. Nobody can guarantee the situation will not end in violence,” said Senator Surachai Liangboonlertchai.
