Bangkok - The councils of worker and labour organizations have not decided if they would join the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) rally, asking to observe the situation for a while before making their decision.

Mr. Manas Kosol, chairman of the Employees’ Labour Development Council of Thailand, said he and the leaders of seven employees’ labour councils wanted to wait and see the situation before making a decision whether to join the protest against the government.

Though they did not agree to the constitution amendments, they had to concern about the workers’ safety due to clashes between the pro-government group and PAD demonstrators.

Besides, the escalating rally will affect the workers’ performance of their duties.

Ms. Wilaiwan Saetia, chairwoman of the Thai Labour Reconcilation Committee, said the committee had no resolution of the issue yet.

All the workers can join the rally if they like as that is their personal rights.

Personally, Wilaiwan did not want the government to amend the charter in haste. Rather, she would like to see the government deal with the economic problems.
