Bangkok - Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej invited 22 MPs from his People Power Party (PPP) to meet at Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung’s house.
The meeting is set to take place on May 30.
News reporters estimated they would discuss the issue of the constitution amendments.
Somchai Wongsawas, PPP deputy party leader, said the issue of withdrawing the motion of the charter change from the parliament was discussed by the party.
He agreed with Prime Minister Samak to hold a referendum on whether to change the charter.
Somchai confirmed the government tried to serve people’s needs, saying it did not focus only on amendments.
Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva urged Samak to coordinate with his PPP MPs to withdraw the motion of the constitution amendments from the parliament.
Abhisit added that could end the People’s Alliance for Democracy rally.
