Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Thai men were taller while women had bigger waistline with larger size of breast, according to a study.
NECTEC joined NSTDA and science ministry in cooperation with TISI, National Statistical Office, Kasetsart University, Toyota, Thai Wacoal and Tesco Lotus to research into Thai standard size.
Information will be initially used in industries such as garment, auto, furniture as well as medical industry.
The study covered 13,442 volunteers, and the 3D Scanner was used to gather the results.
Men can be divided into nine sizes: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48 whereas women are classified into ten groups: 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46.
58.43 percent of men were plump and fat while 48.05 percent of women were plump and chubby as well.
A Thai man averagely weighs 68.9 kilograms and is 169.4 centimetres tall whereas a Thai woman weighs 57.4 kilograms and is 156.9 centimetres tall.
Thai man is 7 centimetres taller and nearly 12 kilograms fatter while Thai woman is 5 centrimetres taller and 5.5 kilograms fatter compared to figures 25 years ago.
The standard size for men is 39.1” 33.5” 37.4” whereas the standard size for women 36” 31.5” 38”.
The interesting point is that Thai women had more straight figures.
