Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Commerce ministry plans to invite Thai commercial attaches in sixty countries worldwide to discuss the export problem at the end of this month.
The event aims to evaluate the export situation and seek way to expand the export market.
Several countries are finding way out of the economic recession. It seems that Southeast Asia is viewed as the best choice to drive the world economy.
Siripol Yodmuangcharoen, permanent secretary for commerce, admitted that declining export was a tough problem which needs to be solved urgently.
He said Thailand was still better than other countries in this region.
Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakhasai said that at least 5 percent of export growth was targeted this year to boost the overall export market.
Commerce ministry will have to support exporters to extend to cover new markets like Africa.
The Bank of Thailand (BoT) earlier warned that Thailand’s economy might grow less than estimated due to uncertainties of global situation.
