Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Senior students who will graduate soon were worried about unemployment during the economic recession, according to a poll.

Bangkok University surveyed 1,226 respondents from government-run and private universities in Bangkok and adjourning provinces.

The survey totally covered twenty universities and was conducted during February 6-11.

Economic problem seems to be a big concern for Thai people, especially when there is no sign of the improvement of the global economy.

50 percent of the respondents were worried they could not find jobs after graduation.

Students who borrowed loans from the Student Loan Fund program were more worried than those who did not.

Students studying at both the government-run and private universities were equally worried about their future work.

62.6 percent were not sure if they would get paid in line with their qualifications.

To deal with the current job situation, most students thought they should run their own businesses, further their study or even work for companies which paid less than they should get.

Asked if they were confident in Abhisit government, most students believed the government would be able to solve the country’s economic problem.

The government was urged to end economic problem soon so as to reduce its impact on the job market.
