Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Although Thai people thought teachers were good models for students, they said teachers became less virtuous, according to a poll.
Assumption University surveyed 1,344 respondents aged 18 years up in Bangkok and adjourning provinces. The poll was conducted on January 13-14.
48.2 percent said teachers were good models for their pupils whereas 62.6 percent thought teachers dedicated themselves to pupils less.
64.3 percent viewed teachers became less virtuous.
Even though most Thais thought teachers quite focused on business benefits now, 52.8 percent still perceived the teacher’s image of teaching children to be good persons.
The interesting point is that 70.5 percent were impressed by teachers in the three southernmost provinces.
81.5 percent said they were disappointed with news that teachers molested their students.
The government was urged to support teachers in terms of welfares, income and debt problem.
The Teacher’s Day falls on January 16 of each year. It is to honor the instructors.
