Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – 110 businesses were totally closed between January 1 and February 6, and 12,524 employees were laid off, according to the department of labour protection and welfare.
207 businesses tend to lay off more employees.
More than 95,000 employees would be affected. Over 33,000 workers are at unemployment risk.
More than 62,000 employees have been affected in terms of bonus and working hours cut.
Textile, electronics and computer parts, jewelry as well as auto industry would be mostly affected.
The situation is worrying because no country has been able to cope with the economic recession yet.
Global financial crisis was sparked by US subprime mortgage crisis last year.
