Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The lower part of the northeast will be closely watched this year, according to the Bureau of the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation.
Mr. Prasert Angsurat, director of the Bureau of the Royal Rainmaking, revealed drought problem has always taken place in the northeast, especially in Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Buriram, Surin and Srisaket
The problem is severe in those areas because they are behind the mountains.
Even though the areas are influenced by the southwest monsoon, raining seldom happens even in the rainy season.
Severe drought in the Northeastern provinces is also because of world’s changing weather condition.
It is expected drought will last longer this year.
Volunteers have been provided to help survey drought areas, so that the Bureau of the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation can give help to afflicted people.
In Nongkhai, more than 130,000 rai of para rubber growing land were in trouble since there has been no rain for several months.
