Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Most Thais thought policemen were friendly and provided good services although some were not quite happy with police, according to a poll.
Assumption University surveyed people in Bangkok and surrounding provinces concerning police’s image.
40.8 percent said they used to contact police stations during the past six months while 59.2 percent did not use to.
82.9 percent thought policemen were friendly, hard-working and laborious.
However, 39.6 percent said there were insufficient policemen to provide services whereas 34.7 percent said policemen were threatening.
47.8 percent were satisfied with the police’s overall performance while 14.5 percent were unhappy with police.
74.9 percent believed police were interfered by politicians whereas 25.1 percent said they were not.
71.6 percent thought police should be independent of politics while 18.1 said they should not.
