Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Phattalung Public Health Office was assigned to collect the problematic canned fish for examination, according to the public health ministry.
Dr. Supan Srithamma, public health ministry’s spokesman, said the canned fish was donated to help flood victims in Phattalung province.
The so-called canned fish is under the brand of Chao Doi. Its manufacturing lot is TSE 77 which will expire in 2011.
It was manufactured by Thong Kingkaew Foods Co and distributed by Thai AE Foods Co.
The products were sent for further examination in Trang. The results will be known on January 15.
All public health offices nationwide were ordered to take such canned fish off shelf for safety.
Samut Sakorn officials were told to check if the manufacturing process was up to the GMP standard or not.
Normally, unsafe canned fish causes stomach-ache, diarrhea, fatigue, dizziness, dried lips and mouth.
Manufacturers will be fined not more than 50,000 baht if food is not up to standard.
They will also be imprisoned for less than two years or fined for less than 20,000 baht or both if food is contaminated.
