Bangkok (Manager Online) - The House Speaker Chai Chidchob made a phone-in to put off the session to 2:00 pm because the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship (DAAD) members have rallied to close the parliament.
Chai announced the postponement after jointly discussing the issue with the government.
The parliamentary session will possibly be put off if the government cannot enter parliament at the specified time.
"If we can't start the session, we will delay (it) until we can," PM’s Office Minister Sathit Wongnongtoei told reporters. The session was originally scheduled to start at 9:30 am (0230 GMT).
Thousands of DAAD protesters in red shirts have gathered at Sanam Luang since December 28 and decided to move to parliament early this morning.
They said they would not disperse unless Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva dissolved parliament.
DAAD members earlier tried to stop prime minister voting on December 15, not allowing Democrat MPs and coalition party MPs to get out of parliament when Abhisit was elected the premier.
