Bangkok - About 3,000 rai of land used for growing strawberries in Chiang Mai province was damaged by fungi.
The so-called strawberry farm is located in Samueng District, Chiang Mai. It is the country’s biggest strawberry farm.
The first lot of strawberries is about to be launched into the market. However, up to 90 percent of the strawberry crops were damaged by fungi.
Unsuccessful harvest seems to be the result of uncontinual cold weather as well as rain.
The Meteorological Department previously predicted cool weather could be seen in almost all parts of Thailand. Heavy rain would be in the south.
Garden strawberry was first grown in the Europe in the early 18th centurty.
Strawberries can be frozen, dried and used as cereal bars. Strawberries can also be added to dairy products like ice cream, milkshakes, smoothies, and yogurts.
Strawberry pie is popular as well.
