Bangkok - A group of unions will go on strike next week if the government does not quit as the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) demanded.

Members of these unions were urged to join a big rally.

The PAD announced a big rally would take place on November 23. This is in response to the bomb blast on November 20, which caused one protester die and 29 people injured.

"We will evict all government officials from every state enterprise and every union will mobilise their members to join the protest on November 24 (Monday) at 10:00 am (0300 GMT) onward," said a statement by the State Enterprises Workers' Relations Confederation, the union grouping.

"If the government does not comply with the demands (of the unions and protesters to resign) or uses violence against the protesters, every one of us will strike nationwide," it said without specifying a date.

There are 250,000 workers at Thailand's 43 state enterprises.

However, the government reportedly planned to call the parliamentary session on November 24.

Police previously crashed with the PAD demonstrators on October 7 when Somchai government tried to get into parliament to present his government’s policies to parliament.
