Bangkok - Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat will not quit though the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters as well as academics and business sector called for parliament dissolution or resignation.

The PAD group demanded Somchai government should resign to give way to a new government.

"The prime minister insisted that he will continue to run the country as he has a mandate from the people because the government is not convinced that either House dissolution or resignation will solve the crisis," government spokesman Natthawut Saikua told reporters.

Somchai, ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s brother-in-law, was much criticized for ordering the police to violently crack down the protesters on Monday 7.
The government spokesman said the PAD’s objective was to overthrow the democractically-elected government.

The PAD presented the concept of new politics which transparent politicians administrate the country and people participate in the administration more.
This morning, the press waited in front the premier’s house to see his reaction to army chief Gen Anupong Paochinda’s comment on government’s responsibility.

He is trying hard to stay in his post amidst protests by the PAD protesters both in Bangkok and provinces.
