Bangkok - CAT Telecom labor union threatened to suspend the international gateway service if the leaders of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) were arrested.
A conclusion about the service cut would be reached this afternoon.
Some employees already stopped working this morning as part of the process to act according to the Confederation of State Enterprise Labor Union’s resolution to back the PAD rally.
The PAD demonstrators have staged their rally since August 25, calling Samak government to resign.
Somboon Sapsarn, chairman of the CAT Telecom labor union, admitted the gateway closure was a very big matter and would be done only if a real crisis such as the arrest of the PAD leaders took place.
The service cut would affect the Internet system, international phone call and online financial system.
Pongthiti Pongsilamanee, chairman of the TOT labor union, confirmed TOT had no policy to cut the phone service, saying it provided the transport service for its employees to join the rally.
